I moderated “Who Speaks? Characters & Narrative Voice,” a literary salon with French author Anne Godard presented by the French Language Program and the Literature & Creative Writing Program at NYU Abu Dhabi. The conversation focused on character, narrative voice, and the creative process behind Godard’s fiction, especially Une Chance folle (Insane Luck, Éditions de Minuit, 2017).

The event explored how narrative perspective shapes literary form and how writers negotiate the challenge of giving voice to characters marked by vulnerability, memory, and transformation. It was also an occasion to reflect on literary creation in dialogue with students and colleagues in an intimate cross-disciplinary setting.
